AQA French GCSE (2026) – Writing Foundation Q1 – Photo

£6.00

This 20-page workbook (including model answers) contains 9 photos for the new AQA French GCSE (first exams 2026) writing exam. It is a downloadable Word Document.

Covering all 9 of the possible topic areas for the new AQA French GCSE (see accompanying photo of the contents list for details), I have carefully selected a range of black and white photos that showcase diversity and inclusion, from the royalty-free website Unsplash (and Unsplash+).

In the model answers, I have only used vocabulary that is included in the prescribed vocab list for Foundation, to ensure that students can practise using the key language needed for this GCSE.

While this workbook is an ideal starting point for practising the new GCSE writing paper, the photos can also be used to prepare students for the photo card element of the speaking exam.

£8.80

This resource contains 20 picture-based tasks for the new French GCSE (first exams 2026), complete with model answers. It is a downloadable resource, in both Word Document and PDF formats.

Covering all of the possible topic areas for the new Edexcel French GCSE (see accompanying photo of the contents list for details), I have carefully selected a range of photos that showcase diversity and inclusion, from royalty-free websites, such as Pixabay, Unsplash (and Unsplash+), and Nappy.co.

Edexcel French GCSE (2026) – Writing Foundation Q2 – Open Response (40-50 word reviews)

£8.80

This resource contains 12 open response questions (40-50 word reviews) for the new French GCSE (first exams 2026), complete with model answers. It is a downloadable resource, in both Word Document and PDF formats.

I have covered as many of the topic areas for the new Edexcel French GCSE as possible (see accompanying photo of the contents list for details) – however, topics are limited to what can feasibly used as reviews in this context and some topics have more than one example question, such as food and drink or accommodation.

In the model answers, I have only used vocabulary that is included in the prescribed vocab list for Foundation, to ensure that students can practise using the key language needed for this GCSE.

Edexcel French GCSE (2026) – Writing Foundation Q3/Higher Q1 – Open Response (80-90 words)

£8.80

This resource contains 20 open response questions (80-90 words overlap foundation/higher question) for the new Edexcel French GCSE (first exams 2026), complete with model answers. It is a downloadable resource, in both Word Document and PDF formats.

Each question contains 4 bullet points in English, including one bullet point that requires a past tense answer, and one that requires a future time frame, as in the Edexcel SAMs.

In the model answers, I have predominantly used vocabulary that is included in the prescribed vocab list for Foundation, with a small number of words in the Higher list, to ensure that students can practise using the key language needed for this GCSE.

FREE French A Level Full Lesson – Listening – Online Shopping

£0.00

This lesson is now available here!

This lesson is ideal for French AS and A Level classes, either as part of the topic of ‘La Cybersociété’ or as revision before the final exams. The lesson uses a listening task from the AQA A Level paper June 2020 about online shopping. As well as listening to the task and completing comprehension questions, students can also transcribe the text, translate it into English and there are speaking questions at the end of the lesson to check understanding and develop their ideas on the topic.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson with answers and link to the sound file (from the AQA website)

The lesson is available for free, because it contains a listening task from an A Level past paper (which is freely available on the AQA website) and is therefore not all my own copyrighted work.

If you love my free content, why not show your support by buying me a coffee?!

French Beginners Full Lesson – Introducing Myself

£5.50

This is an ideal first lesson (or series of 2-3 lessons) with a group of beginners! It covers greetings, asking how people are, numbers to 31 and birthdays, with plenty of speaking practice, games, reading, writing and translation activities.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson – includes vocabulary, role-plays, games, links to more information and ideas for more games and other activities, plus explanations of how to use each slide.
  • PDF worksheets with vocabulary, grammar explanations and activities to be printed and handed out to students
  • Mastering the Basics Numbers 1-12 booklet, including answers (usually £1.50 on its own)

The PowerPoint is deliberately very plain, with white backgrounds and Calibri font throughout. It should therefore be compatible with all computers and easily adaptable for different settings and teacher preference for fonts, colours, etc.

French Beginners Full Lesson – Jouer and faire with sports

£5.50

This lesson is ideal for French beginners who are on the topic of ‘free time’ activities. It covers the verbs ‘jouer’ and ‘faire’ with sports and contains a number of different tasks to practise and use these verbs in relation to sporting activities.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson – includes grammar explanations, translation, listening, speaking task, and a connect 4 game (with more ideas for games in the lesson plan).
  • PDF worksheets with vocabulary and grammar explanations to be printed and handed out to students
  • Lesson plan with suggestions for scaffolding and extension tasks.

The PowerPoint is deliberately very plain, with white backgrounds and Calibri font throughout. It should therefore be compatible with all computers and easily adaptable for different settings and teacher preference for fonts, colours, etc.

French Full Lesson – Useful expressions with avoir

£5.50

This is a full lesson on useful idiomatic expressions that use ‘avoir’ (where we would use ‘to be’ in English). I have not included timings for any of the tasks as it depends on your class, time available and the level/prior knowledge of the students.

The lesson is ideal for beginners but would also be great as a revision lesson before GCSEs to remind students of some fantastic expressions that they can include in their writing and speaking exams. Some of the expressions feature in the prescribed vocabulary list and grammar expectations for the new GCSE (first exams 2026), so it is essential to expose students to these phrases and ensure they fully understand them and can use them.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson – includes vocabulary matching, translation, reading and writing tasks
  • Lesson plan with suggestions for games and extension tasks.

The PowerPoint is deliberately plain, with white backgrounds and Calibri font throughout. It should therefore be compatible with all computers and easily adaptable for different settings and teacher preference for fonts, colours, etc.

French GCSE Full Lesson – Le boulot de mes rêves

£5.50

Based on AQA GCSE (first exams 2018) Theme 3 – Current and future study and employment, this full lesson (or possible series of lessons) covers the sub-theme of ‘jobs, career choices and ambitions’. The lesson focuses on dream jobs using the conditional, and is based around texts from some of my French KS3 and GCSE resources and is ideal for both foundation and higher GCSE students either to introduce the language needed for this topic, or as a revision lesson in Year 11. The content could also be suitable for a good Key Stage 3 class, particularly Year 9 students who will be doing higher GCSE with target grades of 6-9.

It would follow on perfectly from this lesson on the world of work.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson – includes tangled translation, grammar explanation of the conditional, games, translation into French, writing (a 90-word task) and speaking (a photocard-style activity)
  • PDF worksheets with vocabulary, grammar explanations and activities to be printed and handed out to students
  • Lesson plan explaining the PPT and different tasks and games

The PowerPoint is deliberately very plain, with white backgrounds and Calibri font throughout. It should therefore be compatible with all computers and easily adaptable for different settings and teacher preference for fonts, colours, etc.

While the lesson is broadly based on the AQA specification (first exams 2018), it can be used with other exam boards with very little adaptation needed.

French GCSE Full Lesson – Le Travail

£5.50

Based on AQA GCSE Theme 3 – Current and future study and employment, this full lesson (or possible series of lessons) covers the sub-theme of ‘jobs, career choices and ambitions’. The lesson is based around texts from my KS3 workbook available here and is ideal for foundation or higher GCSE students (with target grades up to 6) either to introduce the language needed for this topic, or as a revision lesson in Year 11. The content could also be suitable for a good Key Stage 3 class, particularly Year 9 students who will be doing higher GCSE with target grades of 6-9.

The download includes:

  • PowerPoint of the whole lesson – includes vocabulary activities, reading, listening, translation, writing and speaking tasks, plus grammar (masculine/feminine jobs, omission of the article, using 3 time frames)
  • PDF worksheets to be printed and handed out to students
  • Lesson plan explaining the PPT and different tasks and games
  • Sound file of the listening task (this is also on the PPT, but is included here in case it doesn’t work on the PPT on different computers!)

The PowerPoint is deliberately very plain, with white backgrounds and Calibri font throughout. It should therefore be compatible with all computers and easily adaptable for different settings and teacher preference for fonts, colours, etc.

While the lesson is based on the AQA specification (first exams 2018), it can be used with other exam boards with very little adaptation needed.

French GCSE Full Lesson – Les maladies

£5.50

Based on AQA GCSE (first exams 2018) Theme 2 – Local, national, international and global areas of interest, this full lesson (or possible series of lessons) covers the sub-theme of ‘social issues – healthy/unhealthy living’. The lesson is based around texts from some of my French GCSE resources (including my reading and writing workbooks, and WJEC role play workbook) and is ideal for both foundation and higher GCSE students either to introduce the language needed for this topic, or as a revision lesson in Year 11. The content could also be suitable for a good Key Stage 3 class, particularly Year 9 students who will be doing higher GCSE with target grades of 6-9.
