Exploiting one text – Online CPD

Do you often find yourself desperately searching for 3-4 different texts in an attempt to cover all of the skills in one lesson?

If you struggle to find a suitable text for a listening task, then a different one for reading and translation, and then wonder how to scaffold a writing or speaking activity, then this CPD is perfect for you!

Over the past few years, I’ve been developing my own teaching and resources around the principle of “one text per lesson” (or even 2-3 lessons, depending on the text and class!) and now I want to share my ideas with you in a 2-hour online CPD workshop.

Saturday 3rd February 2024 – 9:30am-11:30am

During the workshop, I will describe how to take one good-quality text and exploit it in at least 7 different ways, including skills that are going to be vital in the new GCSE. Not only does this save you masses of time (and which busy teacher doesn’t need time-saving ideas, right?!) but it also enables students to understand the text in depth and ultimately use it to produce their own language.

I will also walk you through examples of texts I have used effectively in my own teaching, at different levels and in different languages, and show you how your entire programmes of study can be built around this principle.
