Sometimes, joining a language class or having 1-2-1 tuition can be really scary… especially if you’re an introvert or suffer from social anxiety. The thought of turning up to a room full of people, being made to say things in a foreign language in front of others, worrying that you’ll get it wrong and people will laugh… we’ve all been there and even contemplating it can make your hands clammy and your heart race!
But what if you would really love to learn another language in spite of finding it terrifying? What if you just need to gather a bit of confidence from the comfort of your own home before venturing out there to speak to people in real life?
There are lots of ways of learning a language online, for people of all ages and levels. Previous posts in Kate’s Tips have mentioned podcasts and vocabulary learning websites such as Memrise and these are great to get you started. However, if you want some interaction with a tutor, then perhaps an online course is the right way to go for you.
The online courses we are offering here at Kate Jones Language Tuition can be accessed at any time, anywhere, and you don’t even have to leave your living room! For £10 per week, you are given vocabulary, tasks to complete in all four skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking), and you will have contact with your tutor via email as and when you want it. If you have written something in the foreign language, you email it to your tutor for feedback. If you want to practise your speaking, you can record yourself saying a couple of sentences and email it to your tutor, too. For a small extra fee, you can even schedule a Skype/FaceTime lesson, as and when you are ready, for a bit of extra practice and face to face help.
Launching in September!
